Ok three thoughts on nutrition today. 

#1 You can literally eat whatever you want and lose weight. You can eat nothing but cookies, cake, brownies, and ice-cream and lose weight. All you have to do is eat fewer calories than you consume.

All you have to do is calculate how many calories you burn, and eat fewer calories than that. The faster you want to lose weight, the lower the calories you eat. The father you have to go, the lower the calorie total.

#2 Just because you can eat whatever you want, doesn’t mean you should eat shit.  Thought #1 illustrates that what’s holding you back is not having a couple desserts each week, it’s consuming too many calories on a day to day basis for weeks, months, and years at a time. As you get ahold of your calories, make better choices with food as well. This is probably the easiest way to cut calories – swap out fruits and veggies for unhealthy snacks, and don’t eat grains – rice, bread – and dairy.

#3 The ideal nutrition program is a careful balance of healthy food, and macro nutrient balance. If you eat nothing but brownies, but calculate your calories carefully, you’ll lose weight. You will feel shitty, and lose muscle, fat, bone density, etc. The ideal nutrition plan is finding a balance of healthy food with some flexibility so it’s sustainable, PLENTY of protein to maintain and build muscle, along with appropriate balance of fat and carbs so you can feel energized, and ONLY promote fat loss (vs weight loss). Weight loss makes people skinny fat – better than nothing, but usually not anyone’s ultimate goals!
